Science Olympiads (Grades 4-6)

The Science Olympiad Competition was held on Saturday,
March 26 (spring break) at CSU. Although Science Olympiads is a national competition at the middle school and high school level, the Cleveland elementary level is
planned by Susan Robertson (Solon), Jennifer Detmar
(Parma), and Amy Brodsky (Shaker). This year the
Cleveland State Organizer/Coordinator was Jay Reynolds.
Altogether, there are 24 different events in which students
can compete.

The following fourth, fifth, and sixth graders worked for
a number of months on Science Olympiad events. 4th
graders: Sahej B, Avi B, Sophia C, Maya D, Abigail M,
Elizabeth P,and Olivia S. 5th graders: Jack B, Grace C,
William L, Isabela M and Sofia R. 6th graders: Alexis
H, Prathna K, Pheby L, Ammar M, Michael T, Grace
X, Haley Y, and John H (who just started at Birchwood.)

A heartfelt thanks goes to: Mr. Poole and Mr. Bindra , who
served as judges for A is for Anatomy, Ms. Glamm, Mrs.
Poole, Ms. Priscilla, Ms. Zwolinski, and John Liu, who
made sure the students got to the correct rooms at the right
time and then picked them up. Also Dr. Magrey helped
watch students and Mr. Brancatelli brought pizza.
